About this landmark

Lexington's oldest commercial core, with 70 contributing properties from Federal to Modern, on a street grid first platted in 1780. Fires in 1875 and 1917 shaped much of it. Architects here include Gideon Shryock, Benjamin Latrobe and McKim, Mead & White.
